MTSE secures over 127.2 mln birr income

Addis Ababa, February 14, 2010 (Addis Ababa) -Maritime and Transit Services Enterprise (MTSE) said it has secured over 127.2 million birr income over the past six months.

MTSE has been providing shipping, stevedoring, forwarding, clearing and ship’s agency for its customers.

MTSE general manager Ahmed Yasin told ENA that the enterprise secured the stated sum by transporting over 1.9 tons of import and export cargoes via Djibouti port and ship's agency for 90 ships.

The enterprise imported construction materials such as cement. It also imported fertilizers, wheat and various goods while exported coffee, cereals and oil seeds, among others.

The enterprise has allocated over 81 million birr to enhance the institutional capacity of Djibouti port, he said.

The manager said MTSE has finalized its BPR study bench marking international standards.
